The Eu’s multi-billion pound parliament building has been forced to close over fears the roof might cave in – seen by eurosceptics as a “fantastic metaphor” for the EU as a whole.
Cracks have been discovered in beams holding up the ceiling of the debating chamber, prompting the EU assembly to seal off the building “as a matter of precaution”, claimed a spokesman.
The crumbling complex of buildings in Brussels has swallowed up more than over £1.5billion since they were opened in 1995 amid corruption allegations and the use of loopholes to avoid EU laws on public procurement.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage, said: “It is a fantastic metaphor for the structural weaknesses of the EU.”
Now if we could just get it to cave in in the middle of a full session…
